Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?

Okay, wow. It's been...nearly a whole school year and I blogged once. I can't say I tried a whole lot...this year has been crazy. Being a new teacher at a new school and the only one in my grade level has been challenging, to say the least...but it's also been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

As the school year comes to a close I want to reflect on some of my favorite moments from this year and what I've learned. I also want to detail my next challenge...switching to kindergarten!

Stay tuned for upcoming posts that I promise I will try my best to actually write...the trouble is finding the time between work, prepping for work, my other job, and spending time to decompress!

See you soon!

A Thank You

Dear Teachers,

Thank you for spending hours on your classrooms in the days leading up to my arrival. Thank you for writing my name on multiple things. Thank you for your libraries. Thank you for your kindness and attention to detail. But mostly, thank you for being you. You inspired me to follow the same path you took. Your legacy continues.

On this night before my first day of teaching in my own classroom I can't help but stop and think about what lead me to this moment and the teachers that paved the way for me. Mr. Frees, Ms. Sowka, Mrs. Tan, Mrs. Kronemeyer, Mrs. Cassarino, Desha, and a multitude of others who impacted my very soul so deeply that I decided to follow in their footsteps.

I only hope that I can do you "proud" and be the same relentless advocates you were with the same creativity, determination, and compassion you showed me.

Thank you.
